Roof Repair and Replacement in Forsyth County, NC
Part of King sits inside Forsyth County, so the county starts at our doorstep. We repair and replace roofs on older Winston-Salem homes and newer suburban houses, with a free written report first.
Older city roofs and newer suburbs, all in one county

King straddles the Stokes and Forsyth line, and the village of Tobaccoville sits just south of town. From there the county reaches Rural Hall, Winston-Salem, Kernersville and Walkertown, with Lewisville and Clemmons out toward the Yadkin River, which forms its western edge.
Forsyth mixes historic city neighborhoods with suburbs. Winston-Salem has established streets full of older homes with steep rooflines, brick chimneys and decades of repairs layered on top of each other. The suburbs are lined with two-story houses from more recent decades, and many of those are reaching the age when a first roof starts to wear out.
Those two kinds of houses fail in different ways. An older home may hide soft decking or tired flashing under a newer layer of shingles, while a suburban roof usually shows granule loss and lifted tabs first. Jay inspects the roof himself and writes down what he finds, so you know which problem you actually have.
How we help Forsyth County homeowners
The four services we offer, with a note on how each one tends to come up here.
Roof Replacement
On older homes we tear off every old layer and replace rotten decking where needed before new underlayment goes down. The work carries BlueJay's 20-year labor warranty, separate from the manufacturer's product warranty for the line you choose; ask us for the written terms.
Roof Repair
Chimney flashing, aging pipe boots and leaks where an addition meets the original roof are common on older Forsyth homes. We find the source before fixing anything.
Gutters
Gutter installation and replacement, often during a roof job, so the new roof edge and the new gutters fit together and drain away from the foundation.
Siding
Siding installation and replacement for houses where old siding is cracked, faded or letting water behind it. Vinyl is a common option, and we discuss materials at the estimate.

Roofing issues we look for in Forsyth County
City lots, suburban streets and the rural northern edge each bring their own problems.
Extra layers on older homes
Some older houses had a second layer of shingles nailed over the first. The extra weight and trapped moisture can hide rotten decking, which is why we strip down to the wood on a roof replacement.
Chimneys and old flashing
Brick chimneys are common on older Winston-Salem homes, and the flashing around them is a frequent leak source. Failing step flashing often shows up as a stain on an upstairs ceiling.
Suburban roofs reaching their age
Many two-story suburban homes are still on their original roof. Granule loss, curling edges and shingles lifted after a thunderstorm are signs it is time for a closer look.
Big trees on established streets
Mature trees shade a lot of city lots. Leaves clog gutters and valleys in the fall, and limbs over the roof are a real risk during summer storms and the remnants of tropical systems.
How a job with us works
Whether you live in Clemmons, Kernersville or downtown Winston-Salem, the job follows the same six steps.
Step 1You call or send the form
Tell us what you're seeing: a ceiling stain, shingles in the yard, a gutter pulling away, siding that's cracked or loose. We follow up quickly to set a time to come out.
Step 2Free on-site inspection
Jay or a lead looks at the roof and the exterior in person, checking shingles, flashing, vents, decking, gutters and siding, and notes what they find.
Step 3Written report and estimate
You get what we found and what it costs, in writing, before any commitment. When a repair will do, we say so. Estimates are often ready the same day, though not always.
Step 4You decide, then we schedule
Take the time you need, compare quotes, ask about payment options. When you say yes, we book the crew and order materials for your home.
Step 5The work, with daily cleanup
The crew does the job and cleans up as it goes. Nails, scrap and old materials leave with us in our trailer.
Step 6Final walkthrough
We walk the finished work and the yard with you and answer every question before we call it done.
Questions from Forsyth County homeowners
Is King in Forsyth County or Stokes County?
Both. King straddles the county line, and our address on Coventry Forest Lane is in King. Either way, Forsyth County is close to home for us, and we cover the whole county.
My older house might have two layers of shingles. Is that a problem?
It can be. Two layers add weight and make it hard to see the decking underneath. On a replacement we tear off all the old layers, check the decking and replace rotten boards where needed, so the new roof starts on solid wood.
Do you work in Clemmons, Lewisville and Kernersville?
We do. Our Forsyth County work reaches Clemmons, Lewisville, Kernersville, Walkertown and Rural Hall as well as Winston-Salem itself.
My suburban home still has its original roof. Repair or replace?
It depends on what the inspection shows. If the shingles are mostly sound and the trouble is a pipe boot or a few lifted tabs, a repair makes sense. If granule loss and curling are spread across the whole roof, we will say a replacement is the better value and show you why in the report.
Can you replace the gutters at the same time as the roof?
Yes, and it is often a good idea. Doing them together means the roof edge and gutters are fitted to each other, and you only have one crew at the house. Our gutter services page has more detail.
How do I know if hail hit my roof?
Hail damage is not always visible from the ground. Look for dents in gutters, downspouts or vents, and dark spots where granules were knocked loose. A free inspection with photos shows what is there, and the written report can help if you file a claim with your insurer.
Where we work
Forsyth County is part of our core area, along with our home county of Stokes and the rest of the Triad.
